Forget about adding vinegar and and spinning the water, there’e no need for it. Follow these easy few steps and you can’t go wrong!!
Time: 8 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 egg, as fresh as possible
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Water, amount depends on pot being used.
1. Place enough water in a pot so that the egg will be covered. Heat so that a good flow of bubbles begin to rise to the surface.
2. Crack your egg into a cup ensuring not to break the yoke.
3. Add salt to the water and then slowly pour the egg into the centre of the pot.
4. Cook until the egg begins to float to the surface.
5. Remove using a metal slotted spoon. The egg sticks to plastic spoons sometimes so I don’t use them.
6. Dry off with some paper towels and serve.
Enjoy.

For me, food is not just my job, it’s my hobby and is pretty much what the focus of everyday is. Wether it’s cooking it, writing about it, studying it or just eating it, I enjoy all of it.
I’m a qualified electrician but now a trainee chef doing the Total Immersion Chef Programme in the I.T in Cork. It’s a pretty intensive course for 12 months but worth all the work as you learn a huge amount from it.
I started FunFreshFood.ie a couple years back just writing up really simple recipes, and the blog has kinda progressed from there as I began learning more. It was more of a way for me to remember what I had cooked but has also become a blog that people use on a regular basis for recipes and tips.
